Tour Details

Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake and Poon Hill is bound to take us to the world’s highest lake in Manang District of Nepal to Tilicho.

The trail is divided into two parts, the first part being Annapurna Circuit. However, from Manang, we will go to the main valley to the west of Nepal and trek up to the highest lake in the world, Tilicho Lake. We will rejoin the Annapurna Circuit route and cross one of the world’s highest passes, Thorang La pass. We will also be climbing up to Poon Hill for its spectacular views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Poon Hill is famous for the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas.

On our 20-day journey together, we will be passing through forests, experience vegetation changes while in the company of glorious Himalayas.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Upon your arrival, a team member representing Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. In the evening, you will attend a welcome dinner, where you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine that will introduce you to Nepal’s food culture, at the hotel hosted by Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure. You will stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 2Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation

We will have a guided tour of several of the most historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu, which are are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will be visiting Durbar Square, sacred Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the famous Swayambhunath (also known as ‘Monkey Temple’) and Boudhanath, which is one of the largest stupas in the world. Afternoon, We will get our equipment checked at night by our leader, get and be introduced to our fellow trekkers and discuss our trip. We stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 3Drive from Kathmandu to Syange (1100m/3608 ft): 8 - 10 hours

On our long drive to Syange, which will begin in the morning, we will get to enjoy Nepal’s beauty with its green hills, rivers, terraced farms and the glorious Himalayas. We stay the night in Syange.

Day 4Trek from Syange to Dharapani (1,960m/6,430ft): 7 - 8 hours

We will make our way to Manang district after crossing a bridge near Tal. The trail is filled with rich company such as barley, rice, fields and continuing waterfalls. We will then pass through the Kodo village before reaching out destination of Dharapani. Dharapani is one of the biggest villages in Manang valley. We stay the night in Dharapani.

Day 5Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft): 5 - 6 hours

We will make our way through a few steep ridges along with some landslides on our way to Chame. We will continue to look above for the remarkable views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II and Annapurna IV. We will also enjoy small hot springs, where we can choose to relax for a while. We stay the night in Chame.

Day 6Chame to Pisang (3,300m/10824ft): 5 - 6 hours

We will talk through a steep and narrow valley to gaze at Paungda Danda, a dramatic curved rock face rising 1500m from the river. We will also observe excellent views of Annapurna II to the south and Pisang Peak to the north east. After that, we will start our descent to Manang Valley, enjoying the eye catching landscape throughout. We stay the night in Pisang.

Day 7Pisang to Manang (3,500m/11,482ft): 6 - 7 hours

We will pass through Upper Pisang via Geru, as it has outstanding views of Mt. Annapurna, Pisang Peak and others to offer. As we make our way near Manang, we will start feeling cold and dry climate. Nonetheless, a short visit to Barge Monastery should cheer us up. It is the biggest monastery in Manang. We stay the night at Manang.

Day 8Manang: Acclimatization day

We will keep ourselves fit for the trail that follows with a short hike to either Bhojo Gumba or Gangapurna Lake. If our body permits, we can even hike to Vraga Village. We can visit the Himalayan Rescue Association here, which will give us some idea about Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). We stay the night in Manang.

Day 9Manang to Siri Kharka (4060m/13,320ft): 4-5 hours

From Manang, we will follow the path down the river through the western gates. We will cross the river and continue our walk on the southern side through the forest. Upon reaching Kangsar Village, we walk further upwards to Siri Kharka and pass a monastery on the way. Gungang Himal and Mount Chulu will be by our side to accompany us as the uphill walk could be tiring. We stay the night in Siri Kharka.

Day 10Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4140m/13,583ft): 5-6 hours

We will have to walk on narrow paths around landslide area, on our path from Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp. The walk could turn out to be exhausting while the path isn’t that steep or physically challenging. Our trail continues to go through the middle of the landslide areas where we can see the rock impress us by their formation along the trail. We stay the night in Tilicho Base Camp.

Day 11Visit Tilicho Lake (4,949m/16,138 ft) then back to Siri Kharka: 5-6 hours

After the tough ascent before, our mountain side trail will be a gradual to steep incline before reaching the watershed. On the way, we will be accompanied by the presence of yaks and deer grazing above and below our path. On the other side lies Tilicho Lake, a large beautiful lake facing northwards of Tilicho peak. The lake holds an important place for the Hindus, as the lake was featured Ramayan, one of the holiest texts of the Hindus. We get back to Siri Kharka, where we will be spending the night.

Day 12Siri kharka to Yak kharka (4040m/13,020ft):4-5 hours

Today, we will be leaving Siri Kharka and make our way down towards Khangsar Village. On our way, we will pass through Tare Gumba, a thousand year old monastery which is of grave importance to the local people. We will be following a rock wall out of Khangsar. We will walk further more until we reach a seasonal bridge in Thorang Khola valley. We will then ascend for a while to a plateau, after crossing the river. After that, we will walk furthermore until we reach Yar Kharka. We stay the night in Yak Kharka.

Day 13Yak kharka to Thorang Phedi: (4420m/14501ft): 3-4 hours

From here, it is an uphill walk to Thorang Phedi. After a short walk, we will cross a suspension bridge and reach the village of Ledar. Furthermore, we ascend and pass through towering cliffs before reaching Thorang Phedi. This is the last village before Thorang La. In this trip, we will be rewarded by some of the best views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mt. Khatungkan. We stay the night in Thorang Phedi.

Day 14Thorong Phedi to Thorong La pass (5416m/17764ft) to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft): 7 - 8 hours

The main objective of the day will be crossing Thorang La pass. We will cross the pass from east-to-west, which is the easier and safest direction. We will be waking up at around 3 in the morning and walk up the mountain. Our journey will be worth it when we finally make it to the top. We can take a few photographs before heading to Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorang La pass. We stay the night in Muktinath

Day 15Drive from Muktinath to Tatopani (1,200m/3937ft): 6 - 8 hours

We will visit the Muktinath temple in the morning, a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists alike. After the visit to the sacred temple, we will drive to Tatopani. We stay the night in Tatopani.

Day 16Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,350ft): 7 - 8 hours

We leave Kali Gandaki and head upwards Ghar Khola valley. The trail will lead us through farmlands with mountains surrounding all around. We reach beautiful bright red rhododendron forest passing through the villages of Shikha and Chitre. Further walk takes us to Ghorepani, a beautiful village located at the top of the ridge. We stay the night in Ghorepani.

Day 17Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani (2,700m/8,860ft): 6 - 7 hours

We will make an early morning ascend along the steep trail to our destination, Poon Hill (3,210m), to catch the sunrise over the Himalayas. It is a fantastic pint to observe and enjoy the amazing views of Mustang, Pokhara and more than 20 of the highest mountains (including the close view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges). The peaks covered with snow will surround us with glowing morning light. We will take photographs and have coffee or tea or hot beverage and return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we will be heading east and climb a nearby bridge. We start our descent through the red rhododendron forests, pass by thrilling waterfalls along the way and reach our destination where we will be spending our night, Tadapani.

Day 18Trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara: 5-6 hours trek and 1 hour drive

We get to enjoy the amazing hill landscape of western Nepal, on our way to Naya Pul from Jhinu Danda. We will have lunch on the way. The trek will conclude at Naya Pul, from where we drive to Pokhara. We stay overnight in Pokhara.

Day 19Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu: 5-6 hours

After breakfast, we will bid farewell to the lake city of Pokhara and drive to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will take the rest of the day off. There will be a farewell dinner hosted by Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure in the evening to celebrate our success.

Day 20Final departure

Our journey and time together in Nepal comes to an end today! A representative from Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our flight. On your way back home, you can plan your next adventure in this beautiful country of Nepal with Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure.
