Langtang Tamang Heritage Trek is a remarkable trail that gives you an insight into the culture, lifestyle, natural beauty and serenity of the Langtang region of Nepal. The trek combines charming villages, antique cultures of the people residing in them, superb landscapes and enchanting mountain views, making it the perfect experience for both heritage and adventure enthusiasts.
The trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Syafrubesi, and the highway runs through the beautiful Langtang Valley allowing you the views of snowcapped Mt. Langtang and Mt. Ganesh. The actual walking starts from Syafrubesi and takes you through Tamang settlements. Tamang people are mostly Buddhists, and closely related to their Tibetan neighbors in the north so the trail has an abundance of Buddhist prayer wheels, prayer flags, mani stones, chortens and stupas. You’ll also visit Kyanjin Gompa, the famous ancient Buddhist monastery. The spectacular mountain backdrops are another main highlight of the trek as you will have uninterrupted views of mountains like Jugal, Manaslu, Ganesh and Langtang.
The accommodation during trek will be in small local teahouses, where the facilities might not be luxurious, but the hospitality definitely is. As with most trekking routes, the best time for this trek is during spring and autumn, but the challenge-seekers can also opt for it during winter.
