Upper Dolpo Trek takes us to Dolpo, a region arranged between the Tibetan level and the Dhaulagiri ranges. The whole region was shut to trekkers until 1989 when the southern piece of Dolpo was opened to sort out trekking gatherings.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Upon your arrival, a team member representing Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. In the evening, you will attend a welcome dinner, where you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine that will introduce you to Nepal’s food culture, at the hotel hosted by Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure. You will stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 2Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation

We will have a guided tour of several of the most historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu, which are are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will be visiting Durbar Square, sacred Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the famous Swayambhunath (also known as ‘Monkey Temple’) and Boudhanath, which is one of the largest stupas in the world. Afternoon, We will get our equipment checked at night by our leader, get and be introduced to our fellow trekkers and discuss our trip. We stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 3Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj: 1 hour

After our short trip in Kathmandu, we take 60 minutes long flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, situated in Western Nepal. Nepalgunj, a town close to the Nepal-India fringe, is additionally the entryway to Simikot, Humla. The town itself is a fascinating Terai town that features different cultures of Nepal. Day 5Dunai to Ankhe (2,896m/9,499ft): 5-6 hours

We leave Dunai and cross a suspension bridge and go toward the west after a path past a hospital. The path climbs up the side of the treeless, Thulo Bheri valley before entering Phoksundo stream valley. During the walk we find a workable pace of Kagmara Peak up the valley. We go through pecan forests, Dhera and Rahagaun towns, stroll down thick wildernesses lastly reach Ankhe, where we stay the night.

Day 6Ankhe to Sulighat: 5-6 hours

Day 8Acclimatization and rest at Phoksundo Lake

Today will be a much deserved rest day for acclimatization at Phoksundo Lake. During the day we can set out on a short climb to the town of Ringmo and its Tibetan Buddhist Religious community. Day 11Phoksundo Bhanjyang to Shey Gompa (4,500m/14,760ft) via Kang-La pass (5,360m/17,581ft): 5-6 hours

Day 12Acclimatization and rest at Shey Gompa

Built in 1655, Shey Gompa is noted for its giant copper with plated gold statue of a situated Shakyamuni Buddha. Day 13Shey Gompa to Namduna Gaun (4,800m/15,744ft) via Saldang La (5,200m/17,056ft): 6-7 hours

Day 16Yangze Gompa to Sibu (4,560m/14,957ft): 6-7 hours

From Yangze, there are two paths that connect with Sibu. To spare time we will follow the way back towards Saldang town, which will be a lot simpler and shorter than the other routes.
