The Annapurna Sunrise and Everest View Trek takes you to two of the most popular trekking regions in the world, Annapurna and Everest. This trek will feature spectacular scenery combined with unique cultures.

The trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The walk starts from Naya Pul from where we trek to Ghandruk. Reaching our first destination, Poon Hill (3210m), will be a big reward as it is considered one of the best viewpoints on earth. We will make our way back to Pokhara from Ghandruk and fly back to the capital, Kathmandu. The next day, we will take a flight to Lukla, from where the trek continues through lush vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park, with rhododendron flowers and an abundance of wildlife to Namche Bazaar.

The treks to follow will bring us to the village of Tengboche, home of the highest Buddhist monastery in the world. From here, we make our way back to Kathmandu and end our 17-day journey together in Annapurna Sunrise and Everest View Trek.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Upon your arrival, a team member representing Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. In the evening, you will attend a welcome dinner, where you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine that will introduce you to Nepal’s food culture, at the hotel hosted by Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure. You will stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 2Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation

We will have a guided tour of several of the most historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu, which are are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will be visiting Durbar Square, sacred Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the famous Swayambhunath (also known as ‘Monkey Temple’) and Boudhanath, which is one of the largest stupas in the world. Afternoon, We will get our equipment checked at night by our leader, get and be introduced to our fellow trekkers and discuss our trip. We stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 3Fly to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft) and trek to Ulleri (2050m/6725 ft): 30 min flight and 6 hours trek

We will be taking an early morning flight to Pokhara. On our flight, we will be graced by beautiful scenes of the Himalayas from the right side of the airplane. After landing in Pokhara airport, we will have a 1 hour and 20 minutes drive to Naya Pul, where we will begin our trek. We will pass through beautiful forests, sometimes on the carvel trail on the side of the cliff. We will cross the Bhurungdi river to the village of Tikhedhunga, after lunch. We will then test our stamina and energy with thousands of steps and boulders that continue to go upward at the Ulleri Hill. We will reach Ulleri by late afternoon. We stay the night in Ulleri.

Day 4Ulleri to Ghorepani (2,750m/9,020 ft): 4 - 5 hours trek

We will ascend to Ghorepani village, after having our breakfast. Ghorepani is an interesting place where the locals put on small shops and stalls to sell their local products and crafts. The town consists of two parts: one in a saddle and the other a few hundred feet lower. We will be stopping at the higher part of Ghorepani village that will offer spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, which will include Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains. The higher altitude of Ghorepani will begin to feel chilly come evening. We stay the night in Ghorepani.

Day 5Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,700m/8,860ft) with a visit to Poon Hill: 6 - 7 hours

We will make an early morning ascend along the steep trail to our destination, Poon Hill (3,210m), to catch the sunrise over the Himalayas. It is a fantastic pint to observe and enjoy the amazing views of Mustang, Pokhara and more than 20 of the highest mountains (including the close view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges). The peaks covered with snow will surround us with glowing morning light. We will take photographs and have coffee or tea or hot beverage and return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we will be heading east and climb a nearby bridge. We start our descent through the red rhododendron forests, pass by thrilling waterfalls along the way and reach our destination where we will be spending our night, Tadapani.

Day 6Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m/6360 ft): 3 - 4 hours

We make a steep descent through the forests, from Tadapani. This part of the trek will comprise of amazing rhododendron trees, which when in bloom, turn the forests into amazing colorful garden. By afternoon, we also get to enjoy the blossoming cherry on the slope on the other side of the ravine. We enter Ghandruk village, a slope settlement with stone houses mostly inhabited by Gurungs. We will acquaint ourselves with rich cultural traditions of Gurungs at the Gurung Museum in Ghandruk, after enjoying stunning close-up view of Fishtail, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli mountains.

Day 7Ghandruk to Pokhara: 4 hours trek and 1 hour drive

This will be a downhill trek all the way to Birethanti. We step onto staircase paved with stone slabs, curving in and out of the village and then into terraced farms. The trek continues to go downwards without any stops until we reach Modi River valley. From Birethanti, we walk half-an-hour to our destination of Naya Pul. The walking journey comes to an end at Naya Pul from where we drive to Pokhara and stay the night.

Day 8Fly back to Kathmandu

We fly back to Kathmandu in the afternoon. Upon our arrival in Kathmandu, we will be escorted back to our hotel. We can enjoy the day freely, go shopping, or explore any landmarks we might have missed during our first day in Kathmandu. But we won’t be rushing it, as we will have another day to spend at the capital. In the evening, we prepare for tomorrow’s trek to Phakding.

Day 9Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, trek to Phakding (8,700ft): 40 mins flight, 3 - 4 hours trek

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (9,186ft) will be of 40 minutes, and in these 40 minutes, we will enjoy one of the most beautiful air routes in the world. The flight will be surrounded by green hills and high mountain peaks. We will meet our other crew member at Lukla, the destination from where our trek begins. We will get to Cheplung village after an hour long walk down, from where we can catch a glimpse of Mount Khumbila (18900 ft). Mt. Khumbila is a sacred mountain that has never been climbed. We descend gradually until reaching Phakding, from Cheplung. We spend the night in Phakding.

Day 10Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft): 5-6 hours

We will take a walk through beautiful pine forests along with Dudh Koshi River after breakfast. Our green natural journey comes to an end at Namche Bazaar. After walking for approximately an hour further, we will come across Mt. Thamserku (6,608m) on our right hand side and experience the surreal beauty of pine forest alongside fir and juniper forests too throughout our journey. If weather permits, we may potentially catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest peaking over Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. We will continue walking further until reaching the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mt. Everest and the main trading centre of this region. In this day’s journey, we will cross five suspension bridges, including Hillary Bridge being the highest, which is the last of five. From the bridge, we ascend to Namche Bazaar. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 11Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,283 ft): Acclimatization Day

Today, we rest at Namche Bazaar to get used to the weather here. Moving around and staying active is the best way to fit in instead of staying idle all day, according to health experts. We take a stroll around Namche’s villages and interact with the Sherpa people and get to know their culture. While in Namche village, we visit the local museum which exhibits the area’s native flora and fauna as well as the history of Mt. Everest region. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 12Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3,810 m/12500 ft): 4 hours

Our journey, today, starts with a climb up to Syangboche, a famous airstrip. Just above Syangboche is Everest View Hotel. We will enjoy the close-up view of the highest peak, Everest. We will continue our trek to Khumjung village surrounded by Kondge, Thamserku and sacred Khumbila mountains. While here, we will pay a quick visit to Edmund Hillary School and Khumjung Monastery, which is famous for housing the head of the Yeti. We stay the night in Khumjung.

Day 13Khumjung to Tengboche (3,870m/12694ft): 4 - 5 hours

From Khumjung, we start our descent to Dudh Koshi River and pass through villages along the way. We will talk on a forest trail, which will take us to a riverbed. Next, we walk up for about two hours through the pine and fir forests again before reaching a small village of Tengboche. The village is home to the famous Tengboche Gumba, situated at 3,867m and is the largest monastery in Khumbu region. We take a tour around the Gumba and enjoy serene panoramic view of the Himalayas. We stay the night in Tengboche.

Day 14Tengboche to Monjo (2,950m/9,676ft): 6 - 7 hours

We will be trekking through hillsides covered by rhododendron and juniper trees. Crossing the bridge covered with prayer-flags over Dudh Koshi River, we will walk alongside Dudh Koshi gorge descending quickly through pine forests. On our walk, we may come across mountain goats, snow leopards and colorful milieu. We will reach an army camp at Namche Bazaar, after passing a chorten. We will get a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape from this juncture. We will continue our trek with a walk downhill and cross a few bridges before ending up at Monjo. We stay the night in Monjo.

Day 15Monjo to Lukla: 5 - 6 hours

The trail starts to go down steeply before cutting up to the airstrip in Chauri Kharka. On the way, we will pass through two villages, Phakding and Chopling. We will make our final climb of the trek from Chauri Kharka. Our venture with the local staff comes to an end today, as they won’t be travelling to Kathmandu. We will celebrate our accomplishments together today at Lukla, where we stay the night.

Day 16Fly to Kathmandu

We fly back to Kathmandu early in the morning. Upon our arrival in Kathmandu, we will be escorted back to our hotel and our long trek will finally come to it’s conclusion. We can enjoy the day freely, go shopping, or explore any landmarks we might have missed during our first day in Kathmandu. To celebrate our wonderful journey, we will have a farewell dinner in the evening. We stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 17Final departure

Our journey and time together in Nepal comes to an end today! A representative from Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our flight. On your way back home, you can plan your next adventure in this beautiful country of Nepal with Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure.
