Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Upon your arrival, a team member representing Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. We will have a guided tour of several of the most historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu, which are are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will be visiting Durbar Square, sacred Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the famous Swayambhunath (also known as ‘Monkey Temple’) and Boudhanath, which is one of the largest stupas in the world. In the evening, you will attend a welcome dinner, where you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine that will introduce you to Nepal’s food culture, at the hotel hosted by Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure.

Day 2Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft): 40 minutes flight; 8km, 3 - 4 hours trek

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (9,186ft) will be of 40 minutes, and in these 40 minutes, we will enjoy one of the most beautiful air routes in the world. The flight will be surrounded by green hills and high mountain peaks. We will meet our other crew member at Lukla, the destination from where our trek begins. We will get to Cheplung village after an hour long walk down, from where we can catch a glimpse of Mount Khumbila (18900 ft). Mt. Khumbila is a sacred mountain that has never been climbed. We descend gradually until reaching Phakding, from Cheplung. We spend the night in Phakding.

Day 3Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280 ft): 11km, 5 - 6 hours

We will take a walk through beautiful pine forests along with Dudh Koshi River after breakfast. Our green natural journey comes to an end at Namche Bazaar. After walking for approximately an hour further, we will come across Mt. Thamserku (6,608m) on our right hand side and experience the surreal beauty of pine forest alongside fir and juniper forests too throughout our journey. If weather permits, we may potentially catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest peaking over Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. We will continue walking further until reaching the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mt. Everest and the main trading centre of this region. In this day’s journey, we will cross five suspension bridges, including Hillary Bridge being the highest, which is the last of five. From the bridge, we ascend to Namche Bazaar. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 4Namche Bazaar: Rest and acclimatization

Today, we rest at Namche Bazaar to get used to the weather here. Moving around and staying active is the best way to fit in instead of staying idle all day, according to health experts. We take a stroll around Namche’s villages and interact with the Sherpa people and get to know their culture. While in Namche village, we visit the local museum which exhibits the area’s native flora and fauna as well as the history of Mt. Everest region. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860m/12,660 ft): 10km, 5 - 6 hours

We start today’s trek on a simple path to Phunki Thanga. From here we rise towards Tengboche town which is home to the biggest religious community in the Everest area. The religious community is situated inside the Sagarmatha National Park and gives all-encompassing view of the most elevated mountains on earth including Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse and Lhotse. We attempt to arrive at the monastery by 3:00 towards the evening and may even have the option to observe a religious Buddhist service. We stay the night in Tengboche.

Day 6Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft): 9km, 5 - 6 hours

Day 7Dingboche: acclimatization and rest

Day 8Dingboche to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft): 7km, 5-6 hours

We start the day with a progressive move upwards to Duglha toward the finish of the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Ice sheet. From here, we move up a precarious path to Chupki Lhara, where we discover a variety of stones with supplication banners utilized as commemorations to Scott Fischer (American mountain dweller) and 10-time Everest submitter Babu Chiri Sherpa (Nepali mountain guide) who died on his mission to climb Everest. Next, we proceed to the Khumbu Icy mass moraine and end up confronting a few incredible pinnacles – Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. To celebrate our wonderful journey, we will have a farewell dinner in the evening. We stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 14Final departure

Our journey and time together in Nepal comes to an end today! A representative from Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our flight.
