The Cho La Pass Trek takes you across the 5330 meters high Cho La Pass to Everest Base Camp, making it one of the most exciting trekking experiences in Everest region.

This strenuous yet rewarding trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the highest airport in Nepal. You will find a huge difference in the environment, scenery and atmosphere as soon as you leave the capital city behind and venture into the wilderness of rural Nepal. Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Upon your arrival, a team member representing Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. In the evening, you will attend a welcome dinner, where you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine that will introduce you to Nepal’s food culture, at the hotel hosted by Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure. You will stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 2Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation

We will have a guided tour of several of the most historical and spiritual attractions of Kathmandu, which are are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will be visiting Durbar Square, sacred Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the famous Swayambhunath (also known as ‘Monkey Temple’) and Boudhanath, which is one of the largest stupas in the world. Afternoon, We will get our equipment checked at night by our leader, get and be introduced to our fellow trekkers and discuss our trip. We stay the night in Kathmandu.

Day 3Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft): 40 minutes flight; 8km, 3 - 4 hours trek

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (9,186ft) will be of 40 minutes, and in these 40 minutes, we will enjoy one of the most beautiful air routes in the world. The flight will be surrounded by green hills and high mountain peaks. We will meet our other crew member at Lukla, the destination from where our trek begins. We will get to Cheplung village after an hour long walk down, from where we can catch a glimpse of Mount Khumbila (18900 ft). Mt. Khumbila is a sacred mountain that has never been climbed. We descend gradually until reaching Phakding, from Cheplung. We spend the night in Phakding.

Day 4Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280 ft): 11km, 5 - 6 hours

We will take a walk through beautiful pine forests along with Dudh Koshi River after breakfast. Our green natural journey comes to an end at Namche Bazaar. After walking for approximately an hour further, we will come across Mt. Thamserku (6,608m) on our right hand side and experience the surreal beauty of pine forest alongside fir and juniper forests too throughout our journey. If weather permits, we may potentially catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest peaking over Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. We will continue walking further until reaching the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mt. Everest and the main trading centre of this region. In this day’s journey, we will cross five suspension bridges, including Hillary Bridge being the highest, which is the last of five. From the bridge, we ascend to Namche Bazaar. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5Namche Bazaar: Rest and acclimatization

Today, we rest at Namche Bazaar to get used to the weather here. Moving around and staying active is the best way to fit in instead of staying idle all day, according to health experts. We take a stroll around Namche’s villages and interact with the Sherpa people and get to know their culture. While in Namche village, we visit the local museum which exhibits the area’s native flora and fauna as well as the history of Mt. Everest region. We stay the night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 6Namche Bazaar to Phortse Thanga (3,680m/12,073ft): 6km, 5-6 hours

We climb the Khumjung slope and walk back downwards the east of the town down the wide valley prompting the Dudh Koshi from where the course turns north. There are two path and our guide will pick the best choice for us to pursue. There is a chorten on the edge top at 3973 m which drops from Mt. Khumbila (5761 m). We visit Mohang, the origination of the re-embodied Lama of Rongbuk Cloister of Tibet who is accepted to have presented Buddhism in the Khumbu area of Nepal. Day 7Phortse Thanga to Machhermo (4,470m/ 14,663ft): 10km, 4-5 hours

From Phortse Thanga it is a walk up to Machhermo. We stroll on a path nearby a rhododendron forest and go through a waterfall before coming to Tongba Town. We proceed with our tough trek and go through Dole, Labarma and Luza towns before coming to Machhermo. There is a Chhorten directly before the Luza town. All through the present adventure we will stroll nearby the Dudh Koshi River. We stay the night in Machhermo.

Day 8Machhermo to Gokyo (4,800 m/15,744 ft): 7km, 4-5 hours

We start today by climbing an edge for a superb view down the valley to Kangtaiga and furthermore up towards Cho Oyu (8153 m). The valley now starts to look bigger as the path goes through Phangkha, where an avalanche in 1995 executed 40 individuals. We at that point dive to the riverbank before climbing onto the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa Glacier on a precarious path. Day 9Gokyo Valley: Acclimatization Day - Optional Hike to Gokyo Ri (5357 m/17,570 ft): 2km, 3 - 4 hours

We may choose to climb to Gokyo Ri, a little top above Gokyo town, toward the beginning of the day and relish the fabulous perspectives on the whole Khumbu area. If we choose to and as we climb, the views become significantly increasingly fabulous and we can see four of the seven most noteworthy pinnacles of Nepal, Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. Arriving at the fourth lake, Thonak Tsho we enjoy the lake’s quiet magnificence after which we trek back along the following path to the third lake. Day 10Gokyo to Thagnak (4750 m/15,580 ft): 4km, 4 - 5 hours

In the off chance that we didn’t climb the Gokyo Ri the earlier day, we can do that today. Moving to the highest point of Gokyo Ri is requesting as it is steep and takes around 3 to 4 hours to arrive at the top. In any case, the landscape of Gokyo town, on the edge of third lake disregarded by Cholatse and the expansive Nogzumpa Glacier, is absolutely amazing. Day 11Thagnak to Cho La pass (5,367m/17,604 ft) to Dzongla (15, 939 ft): 7km, 7 - 8 hours

Today will be perhaps the hardest days of the excursion. The Cho La pass isn’t itself difficult, however it is steep and includes an icy mass cross on the eastern side. We should be cautious as the path is vertical and the stones coated by ice may raise a ruckus by making the path tricky. The path from Phedi moves through a gorge and a rough path. While trekking through the side of a solidified lake, we reach at the highest point of the pass enhanced with prayer flags. The pyramidal Ama Dablam directs a scope of mountains on the south even as Cholatse takes off toward the west and Lobuche East and Baruntse rises strongly on our right side. We have to go through certain chasms before we reach Dzongla Village. The town gives incredible views of Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Lobuche mountains alongside the Pheriche Village far beneath.

Day 12Dzongla to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft): 6km, 2 - 3 hours

This will be an extremely short trek so we unwind and appreciate the magnificence that encompasses us. We move down from Dzongla and stroll through a verdant path while getting a charge out of the view of Lobuche Peak. The path bends through the wide stream bed before coming to Lobuche. Day 13Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,170 m/16,961ft), visit Everest Base Camp (5,364 m/17,594 ft): 13km, 6-7 hours

Our path moves along the parallel moraine of the Khumbu Ice sheet. Ahead on the path we see the peak of the north edge of Everest alongside Pumori, Mahalangur, Lingtern, Khumbutse, Nuptse and different mountains. A little rising takes us to Thangma Riju. From here we appreciate all encompassing view of the Himalayan vista. We climb on a precarious path up to the highest point of Changri Icy mass. Day 14Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192ft) to Pherice (4,288m/14,070ft): 16km, 7-8 hours

We get ready for an early morning takeoff, in the midst of pre-first light haziness and cold chilly winds. We will make way via a steep trail on our own pace. Natural pinnacles, for example, Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse tower toward the east even as Everest uncovers itself. Day 15Pheriche to Namche Bazaar: 20km, 6 - 7 hours

We trek down through the slope covered by rhododendron and juniper trees. Day 16Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,860m/9,186ft): 19km, 6 - 7 hours

To celebrate our wonderful journey, we will have a farewell dinner in the evening. We stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 18Final departure

Our journey and time together in Nepal comes to an end today! A representative from Unleash Nepal Treks & Adventure will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our flight.
